Education Programme to become a Mathematical Expert in Retirement Provision (IVS)
The additional qualification to become a mathematical expert in retirement provision (IVS) gives you the opportunity to gain further qualifications in a highly-specialised and future-proof sector. Successfully completing the IVS education programme will also give you the possibility to become a member of the IVS (provided that you are a member of the DAV). The work of mathematical experts mainly focuses onEvaluating liabilities in occupational pension provisions in all forms of implementation. Moreover, private provisions are also important for the work of IVS members. For pension schemes, pension funds, support funds and direct commitments and retirement provisions funded by life insurance, they calculate pension and cove reserves in line with regulatory and tax law guidelines as well as German and international accounting principles.
If you would like to become a specialist in the field of retirement provision then make an investment in your future and find out about IVS education programme in line with the current examination regulations.

According to the current examination regulations, the IVS programme consists of the following four subjects:
- Pensions 1
- Pensions 2
- Pensions 3
- Pensions 4
Because of the contents covered, we recommend taking Module 1 and 2 first, before continuing with Module 3 and 4.
Please refer to the learning objectives for detailed information on the content of each subject.
The DAA offers preparatory seminars for all IVS examinations. You must attend the mandatory seminars for the subject before you can register for the exams in your chosen subject.

Recognition of aba seminars
The DAV recognises participation in the aba seminars on occupational pension labour law and occupational pension tax law as a prerequisite for participation in the IVS examination in the subject ‘Pensions 4’.
Please note that the learning objectives catalogue for the subject ‘Pensions 4’ is decisive for the content of the IVS examination in the subject ‘Pensions 4’ and that the two above-mentioned aba seminars may differ in content, particularly with regard to the area of ‘social security law relating to occupational pension schemes’.

All IVS examinations take the form of a written examination that lasts 180 minutes. Examinations for Modules 1 and 3 are held in May each year; examinations for Modules 2 and 4 are held in October.
If subjects of the specialist courses of the DAV education programme in Pensions 1 and Pensions 2 have already been successfully passed, these will automatically be credited as passed in your IVS education programme, so that the only remaining subjects that have not yet been successfully completed need to be taken.
Recognition rules for exams under expired examination regulations
- If, within the framework of the valid examination regulation 4.0 (or 4.1) in the DAV education programme, subjects of the specialist courses Pensions 1, 2 or 3 have already been successfully passed, these will automatically be credited as passed in your IVS education programme, so that the only remaining subjects that have not yet been successfully completed need to be taken.
- If, under examination regulation 3.0 in the DAV education programme, the specialist course subject Pension Insurance Mathematics has been successfully passed, this will automatically be credited as passed in the IVS education programme for the courses Pension 1 and 2. Therefore only exams in the subjects Pensions 3 and 4 need to be taken.
- For the recognition of the exam subject 'Pensions 3,' an exam in 'Accounting of Occupational Pensions' can be recognized if proof of attendance at the compulsory seminars 'Accounting of Occupational Pensions' and 'Tax Law of Occupational Pensions' is also provided.
- For the recognition of the exam subject 'Pensions 4,' an exam in 'Labor Law of Occupational Pensions' can be recognized if proof of attendance at the compulsory seminars 'Labor Law of Occupational Pensions' and 'Tax Law of Occupational Pensions' is also provided.
Please refer to the cost overview for the costs of the respective seminars and examinations.
