IVS: Without a robust occupational pension scheme and without the capital market, it will not be possible to achieve a 70 per cent net replacement rate

The IVS - Institute of Pension Actuaries welcomes the recommendations of the Pension Security Commission as an important step towards a more sustainable pension system. On 16 September 2026, the IVS, together with the German Actuarial Association (DAV) e.V., published a detailed position paper on this subject. At its annual press conference, the IVS emphasised in particular the importance of a strong occupational pension scheme – without which it is not possible to achieve a retirement income of 70 per cent of the final net salary – as well as a statutory capital pension scheme that capitalises on opportunities in the capital markets not only during the accumulation phase but also during the pension phase.
