The German Actuarial Association (DAV) is the independent professional association of actuaries in Germany and awards the title of DAV Actuary. Actuaries are specially trained mathematicians who are generally active in the insurance and finance sectors, with a wide range of activities within the value chain.

What does the DAV's external communications department do?
To fulfill this mission, we engage in dialogue with various social groups and offer our expertise in the process. In doing so, we contribute fact-based perspectives to social debates and provide guidance in complex contexts. The external communications of the DAV (and other affiliated or associated institutions) bring together all communication with the press, external target groups, politicians, associations, specialist institutions, and the interested public.
As a full-time team, we support our volunteer members and the associations themselves in communicating their high level of expertise to the public and interested parties by organizing professional exchanges, preparing information, and implementing various communication measures.
We report on actuarial topics in press briefings, press conferences, and publications, hold bilateral discussions with politicians, institutions, associations, and academia, accompany legislative projects, and offer public and internal dialogue formats on various topics such as old-age provision, the consequences of climate change, healthcare, investment, data science, and other areas that actuaries deal with.
