Press kit for the digital press conference of the German Association of Actuaries on 05/7 2024

The DAV's digital annual press conference took place live from the Cologne studio today. In the first part of the press conference, Dr Maximilian Happacher, President of the DAV Executive Board, and Susanna Adelhardt, Vice President of the DAV Executive Board, addressed the topic of life expectancy in view of the presentation of the second pension package by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Specifically, they discussed the so-called longevity risk, i.e. the fact that people live much longer than they think. The relevance of collective risk equalisation and lifelong pensions for avoiding poverty in old age were particularly emphasised.

In the further course of the event, the still topical issue of natural hazard insurance was addressed. Against the backdrop of the ongoing debate about compulsory insurance, the main focus here was on the need for the three pillars of risk-adjusted premiums, prevention and accumulation protection.
