DAV: Premium increases in private health insurance are not a calculation error, but are required by law

The premiums paid by many insured persons in private health insurance will rise sharply again on January 1, 2026. According to the Association of Private Health Insurance (PKV), the average premium will increase by around 13 percent in 2026, affecting around 60 percent of insured persons. The German Association of Actuaries (DAV) makes it clear that the premium increases are the result of rising healthcare expenditure. It is therefore calling for reforms to curb cost increases and ensure the long-term stability of the system.
