About German Association of Actuaries

Founded in 1993, the German Association of Actuaries (Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung e.V. - DAV) is the independent professional organisation representing insurance, pension, building society and financial mathematicians working as actuaries in Germany.

The DAV is based in Cologne. It creates the framework conditions for the professional practice of its approximately 6,700 members and is in constant dialogue with all relevant national and international institutions in order to contribute its professional expertise to legislative processes in the interests of actuaries and for the benefit of consumers and companies. As part of a demanding, in-service training program, it awards the title ‘Actuary DAV’. In addition, it offers its members the opportunity to acquire further qualifications in the areas of occupational pensions, risk management or data science.

The General Meeting, which takes place once a year, and the Board of Directors elected by it are essential for the direction of the German Actuarial Association. The latter manages the organisation and, in particular, brings together the specialist input from the specialist committees. These specialist committees are the superordinate units that organise the specific professional exchange between members. More information on the exact distribution of tasks can be found in the current DAV statutes.
