Education and Training to become a "Certified Actuarial Data Scientist" (CADS)
The education and training to become a “Certified Actuarial Data Scientist” (CADS) combines, among other things, issues of data processing and data protection, developing data science applications and handling state-of-the-art programming languages in an actuarial context. This additional qualification to become a CADS is aimed at fully qualified actuaries who wish to specialise further and expand their field of activity into data science in the context of insurance and financial services.

Application for CADS training requires a membership of the DAV or, if you are not yet a member of the DAV, admission to the examinations to become a DAV Actuary.

According to the current examination regulations, the CADS programme consists of the following four subjects:
- Actuarial Data Science Basic
- Actuarial Data Science Advanced
- Actuarial Data Science Immersion
- Actuarial Data Science Completion

The DAA (EAA) offers preparatory seminars for all CADS examinations. You must attend the mandatory seminars for the subject before you can register for the exams in your chosen subject.

Lecture notes for DAA seminars
The lecture notes for DAA seminars are copyrighted and may only be obtained if you attend the seminar in question.
Exception: candidates who have to re-sit an exam and who have already attended a DAA seminar on the subject in question may purchase the current version of the lecture notes at a reduced rate. This rate is 1/3 of the price of the current seminar.

The examinations for the additional qualification take place in the subjects Actuarial Data Science Basic and Advanced in form of 180-minute written examinations. The examinations in the subjects Actuarial Data Science Immersion and Completion are organised as practical examinations in the form of a project to be completed. This is to ensure that all future CADS graduates have practical user knowledge.

If subjects in the field of actuarial data science (e.g. Actuarial Data Science Basic (ADS 1), Actuarial Data ScienceAdvanced (ADS 2)) have already been successfully completed as part of the DAV training, these will automatically be credited as passed in the CADS training, so that only the remaining subjects that have not yet been successfully completed need to be taken.
