IVS - Old-age provision is our core competency

40 years of IVS – an anniversary film

The (Occupational) Pensions Committee

The task of the (Occupational Pensions) Pensions Committee is to continuously develop specialist knowledge. It not only deals with actuarial and legal issues, but also with business management topics (in particular accounting) in order to be able to respond appropriately to current practical requirements.

The Committee sees itself as a topic provider and coordinator of its working groups, which are responsible for specific technical work. The individual working groups regularly deal with issues in areas such as biometric calculation principles, portability, accounting, risk management, solvency and pension equalisation as well as “Pensionskassen” and “Pensionsfonds” as special vehicles for occupational pension schemes.

Position Papers and Statements

The results of the working groups are published as position and results papers or as standards of practice and, where appropriate, are introduced into public discussions. The IVS positions itself vis-à-vis the political environment in statements and is also involved in legislative processes in an advisory capacity. All standards of practice and results papers are available to actuaries and the interested public in the section “Fachinformationen” as a basis for their professional activities and for information purposes.

The Board of the IVS - Institut der Versicherungsmathematischen Sachverständigen für Altersversorgung e.V. (Institute of Pension Actuaries) is elected by the IVS General Assembly. The Chairman of the Board acts as spokesperson, who appears more frequently externally. Since the 2024 General Assembly, at which it was decided to expand the Board, there have been two direct deputy positions for the Chairman. The Executive Board consists of nine members in total.
