Research and recruiting young talents

The German Society for Insurance and Financial Mathematics (DGVFM) is the mathematical society of experts working in the fields of insurance and financial mathematics as well as quantitative risk management in science and business in Germany. It represents their interests and maintains relationships with relevant institutions and individuals in science, business, politics and the media.

The DGVFM pursues exclusively non-profit - scientific and professional - objectives, such as the promotion of actuarial research or the support of young researchers. Through recognised scientific formats (events, publications, awards), it ensures national and international visibility of the results achieved in research and application.

The association maintains close relations with the DAV, the German Actuarial Academy and the IVS, which is emphasised by the joint office. The DGVFM consists of ordinary members, junior members, honorary members and supporting members. Every member of the DAV is also a member of the DGVFM.

  • Annual and autumn conferences together with the DAV
    Our conferences bring together leading minds in actuarial science and finance and offer participants the opportunity to engage with the latest research and developments. DAV Trustee Lecturers

The Education and Examination Committee appoints DAV Trustee Lecturers at the respective universities for a period of three years. They are authorized to recognize lectures for their university and thus determine the equivalence to an examination in basic or special knowledge of the DAV. 

If you are interested in becoming a DAV Trustee Lecturer at your university and would like to give your students the opportunity to have the examinations, they have taken during their studies, credited towards their DAV education, please contact our office (vanessa.warmbold-jaquinet@aktuar.de or 0221/912 554-351).

DGVFM Telegrams

Since 2013, the DGVFM has regularly published its own newsletter, the DGVFM Telegram, which provides its members with a quick overview of the society's activities and projects. In order to be able to inform the various member groups within the DGVFM in a target group-orientated manner, the telegrams are each addressed to university lecturers in the field of insurance and financial mathematics as well as DAV actuaries.
