German Association of Actuaries (DAV)
Founded in 1993, the German Association of Actuaries (Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung e.V. - DAV) is the independent professional organisation representing insurance, pension, building society and financial mathematicians working as actuaries in Germany. It is based in Cologne. It creates the framework conditions for the professional practice of its approximately 6,500 members and is in constant dialogue with all relevant national and international institutions in order to contribute its professional expertise to legislative processes in the interests of actuaries and for the benefit of consumers and companies. As part of a demanding, in-service training program, it awards the title ‘Actuary DAV’. In addition, it offers its members the opportunity to acquire further qualifications in the areas of occupational pensions, risk management or data science. Find out more →
German Society for Insurance and Financial Mathematics (DGVFM)
The German Society for Insurance and Financial Mathematics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Versicherungs- und Finanzmathematik e.V. - DGVFM), which was founded in 1948 as the German Society for Insurance Mathematics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Versicherungsmathematik) and was renamed in 2002, is the mathematical society of experts working in the fields of insurance and financial mathematics as well as quantitative risk management in science and business in Germany. It represents their interests and actively cultivates relationships with the institutions and individuals relevant to its members in science, business, politics and the media. The DGVFM pursues exclusively non-profit - scientific and professional - objectives, such as the promotion of actuarial research or the support of young researchers. Find out more →
IVS - Institute of Pension Actuaries
Since its foundation in 1980, the IVS - Institute of Pension Actuaries (Institut der Versicherungsmathematischen Sachverständigen für Altersversorgung e.V.,) based in Cologne, has pursued the goal of promoting the professional interests of its almost 900 members and advocating public recognition of the profession. The members of the IVS are also members of the German Actuarial Association (DAV) and have therefore completed the demanding training program to become a DAV actuary. They have also passed additional examinations in pension actuarial mathematics, labour and tax law and company pension accounting. This means that IVS-certified actuarial experts for pension schemes have a broad range of specialist knowledge and are sought-after experts in all aspects of company pension schemes due to their high level of professional qualification. The German Actuarial Academy (DAA) - connecting knowledge
In 2000, the German Actuarial Academy (DAA) was founded jointly by the DAV, DGVFM and IVS as an organization that guarantees high-quality training and further education for actuaries. The German Actuarial Academy is responsible for all the courses offered in connection with training to become a DAV actuary and the corresponding additional qualifications. In addition, it offers all actuaries the opportunity to undergo further specialist and comprehensive training at any time in numerous continuing education formats.
