IVS Qualification

The "Institut der Versicherungsmathematischen Sachverständigen" (IVS) is a branch of the DAV especially for actuaries specializing in pensions. In order to become a member of the IVS it is necessary to become a member of the DAV in the first place and afterwards take the exams below.

From 1 January 2022, participation in compulsory seminars and examinations in the following four subjects is required:

  • Pensions 1
  • Pensions 2
  • Pensions 3
  • Pensions 4

The special knowledge subjects of the DAV training "Pensions 1" and "Pensions 2" remain unchanged in terms of content. The previous IVS examination subjects "Labour law of company pension schemes", "Tax law of company pension schemes" and "Accounting of company pension schemes" will be combined into two examination subjects "Pensions 3" and "Pensions 4".

Transitional arrangements

During the transition period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021, the IVS preparatory seminars will be available in their current familiar form:

  • Pensions I
  • Pensions II
  • Labor Law of Company Pension Schemes
  • Tax Law of Company Pension Schemes
  • Accounting of Company Pension Schemes.

For the recognition of the examination subject "Pensions 3", an examination in the subject " Accounting of Company Pension Schemes" must be successfully completed. In addition, participation in the compulsory seminars " Accounting of Company Pension Schemes " and " Tax Law of Company Pension Schemes" must also be proven. In order for the "Pensions 4" examination subject to be recognised, an examination in the subject "Labour law of the bAV" must be successfully completed. In addition, proof of participation in the compulsory seminars " Labor Law of Company Pension Schemes" and "Tax Law of Company Pension Schemes " must also be provided. The subject "Tax law of the bAV" will therefore no longer be an examination subject from 2021.
